This is my own experience. Because there are some clients who complain their VGA is faulty, and most of them are artifacts. For example like this.
Finally I try to repair using any equipment such as blowers, flux paste, screwdriver and replacement thermalpaste offcourse. I use digital infrared blower so you can easily set the temperature.
Lets get to the point. Make sure the HSF has been removed. Clean the thermalpaste on the GPU chip. Put the Flux paste on each side of the chip so that when the GPU heated it melt and seep into the bottom of the GPU chip. Then proceed by heating the GPU chip by using a blower. Look at the picture below.
Heating process of each side about 5 minutes, each side, the blower is always driven from end to end for the heat evenly to every part. As the following video.
GPU chip heating process about 20 minutes. almost forgotten, my blower temperature set at 250 degrees Celsius. Do not get too hot because it can cause the GPU chip die.
Once completed the reheating process, please allow the VGA approximately 10 minutes to cool. Then put thermalpaste to the GPU chip and reinstall the HSF.
After all, can be directly on the trial results. My experience with 4 of the Nvidia 8400GT VGA everything works. Here is the results
Test the VGA on gaming for about 15 minutes. But now the VGA still working well on game center.
